Summary of career

Dr. Janet Buck-Stylianaki qualified from Liverpool University Medical School in 1977 and completed her training in general internal medicine and gastroenterology in 1982 obtaining her Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). She trained in London Teaching hospitals including St. Mary’s and Guys Hospitals as well as The Royal Marsden Hospital undertaking both teaching and research. She started her medical practice in Nicosia in 1982 opening the first dedicated endoscopy unit in Cyprus at the Evangelistria Private Hospital. This unit offers a full range of GI endoscopy procedures including both diagnostic and therapeutic examinations. She also has an office-based practice in the centre of Nicosia where she examines patients as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist.
She is a Clinical Tutor at the Evangelistria Hospital as well as a Clinical Assessor for St. George’s Medical School. Her special interests include reflux oesophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome IBS, inflammatory bowel disease and Helicobacter Pylori. She has participated in international research projects on new medical treatments in Gastroenterology and teacher regularly to medical and nursing students from local and european Medical Schools.
